13 Dream Projects
October 21, 2008When I achieved my childhood dream of becoming an animator, it kinda made me a big-headed buffoon, confident of achieving anything. It made me dream big and then I dreamed…
Animation Studio
If we can make animation for foreigners why can’t we make our own? Props to the guys who made Urduja, Tutubi Patrol, and Adarna, who rose up to the challenge in creating their own content.
It’s always been my dream to put up an animation studio and make an animated movie produced by Filipinos. To make Philippines not just an outsourcing country but a country that has a wonderful culture with lots of interesting stories to tell to the world.
Motion Picture Production
Produce motion pictures that matters to the country, advocate change and reflect the real events in society, move emotions of people and inspire them. Big props to the indie filmmakers!
Publishing House
I strongly believe that our country does not produce enough books…on everything! More books should be published that talks about our culture, literature, arts, etc. Don’t just publish books just because it is a sure-fire bestseller and more importantly infuse values like nationalism, critical thinking and other values that promote nation building.
Bookstore
Tambay ako ng bookstore. I spent hours just reading books there. I wanted to buy all the books that I read, the drawback its so pricking expensive! My bookstore will offer cheap books and will be accessible to the masses.
Art School
Art schools in the Philippines are more inclined in producing workers rather than creative innovators. They teach them how to design but not encourage them to create their own style, tell their own stories, and think critically. Artists end up working 9 to 6 robots for profiteers.
Game Development
Games made by Filipinos, for Filipinos…and the world too! We will be the next developer that will revolutionize the game, pretty much like GTA. But instead of the violence and sex that made GTA controversial, how about games that teaches kids to become corrupt? Pinoy style. Starting ‘em young, ayt?
Creative Studio
A studio that has its own philosophy. An art that is produced plays significant role in our society. Would you use your produced art with an eye catching commercial that will induce a telepathic message to a viewer’s mind that you should be ashamed of your own skin and buy skin whitening products?
Clothing Line
Simple lang. I find it hard to choose the best dress to suit me. So why not make one?
PBA Team Owner
When I was in my puberty I was growing 3 inches per year. That’s one foot in 4yrs! I used to believe that I will reach 6′11 by 21 (age that growth ends in men). But since I ended feet lower than that, my dreams of being the next lanky Kevin Garnett was crushed. So if you don’t have what it take to be a pro baller? Be a team owner.
University
A school that mainly focus in promoting sciences, philosophy and the arts. A tradition that is liberal, very much like UP. And since education is a right of every individual, tuition will be FREE!! Yey! If I’m a billionaire why not? But since I’m not, how about pay according to your financial capability, how about that?
Newspaper
Comparison of the main broadsheet’s reportage- Manila Bulletin: too soft, pro-government. Philstar: Just Right. Not tough enough. Phil. Daily Inquirer: Hard-liner, sometimes too negative.
I buy MB every Sunday bcoz of its colossal classified ads. Star, has the best online version. But on mon-sat I rather read the PDI broadsheet so if ever I will venture on newspaper publication I would model it to Inquirer.
Just enough spice to make politicians cry foul.
Television Network
Since it’s only the Kapuso and the Kapamilya dominating the scene it would be very cool if someone would offer an alternative choice, someone who dares to be different, not just keep on copying each other’s show, pattern foreign show and cares only about the ratings. Shit! If I would have my own way I would rather go for an indie network producing documentaries, entertaining yet tell stories that matter, news that is not full of showbiz crap.
Research Institute
Arts has always been my passion but lately, I’ve been digging a lot about human relationships, from philosophy, psychology, sociology, cultural studies, etc. From simple interest in learning new knowledge it became a passion. Leaning the behavior of human beings really intriguing. Having facilities capable of scientific research about this stuff could help us understand our society.
Funny thing is, I always have a knack of creating things on how I wanted it to be. I guess that’s the reason why I wanted to create those projects. I do have one tiny insignificant problem. Since all of my projects do not aim mainly for profit, how will I manage its massive finances? The problem with a capitalist system, eh? And lastly, one thing i learned about big dreams is you can’t do it alone.
So, Crush’s dream chasing adventure to a greater saga begins…
